At Chad's table, whimsy is the whole point. The placemats are hand-sewn. Name cards, folded like tiny pillows, sit propped in dollhouse chairs at each place setting. And in place of traditional turkey, there’s fried chicken, ordered in, served with chilled Lambrusco and homemade sides.

The moment guests walk in, Chad’s got a move. “A huge gushy hug, and I love to find something I can genuinely compliment from their outfit.”

Chad’s Watermelon & Asian Pear

With Crispy Chili Oil

watermelon, sliced
Asian pear, sliced
crispy chili oil
limes, halved
crispy fried shallots
chopped cilantro

Arrange one slice of watermelon and two slices of Asian pear on a plate.
Dollop a generous spoonful of crispy chili oil over top.
Squeeze the juice from half a lime, and pour over the fruit.
Sprinkle with crispy fried shallots and cilantro, and voila, an easy to prepare and refreshing appetizer.
